'GMA' 40 for 40: Drew Barrymore On Her New Movie Being Compared to Film 'Beaches'
The actress chats with Amy Robach about her new film “Miss You Already.”
— -- Drew Barrymore says she loves that her newly released film "Miss You Already" has been compared to the popular 1988 film "Beaches" starring Bette Milder.
"This was a film for women, by women and about women," Barrymore said in an interview with "Good Morning America" co-anchor Amy Robach during "GMA's" 40 for 40 live stream event, commemorating the show's 40th anniversary. "Having two daughters myself, I was inspired to tell this story about girlfriends..."
Barrymore says the on-screen relationship with co-star Toni Collette was effortless.
"Best friend chemistry you cannot fake," Barrymore said. "It's either there or it isn’t and we got lucky because it was really there."
As for the challenge of balancing work and being a mom, Barrymore seems to be enjoying the beautiful chaos that comes with the task.
"It’s a constant, messy, brilliant, circus of perfection," she said.
"Everybody agrees that it [the kids growing up] goes by so fast so I am just ever present."
Barrymore joined the livestream from New York where she took part in panel discussion for women entitled "Empowering Conversations,” presented by SELF, which explored topics such as achieving a work-life balance as a mom and entrepreneur, and turning a life passion into a business.
