Jon Gosselin's New York Apartment Ransacked, Lawyer Blames Hailey Glassman
Jon Gosselin's lawyer says ex-girlfriend Hailey Glassman to blame for break-in.
Dec. 28, 2009 -- The year's winding down, but Jon Gosselin's troubles keep going strong.
After spending Christmas with his eight children, the former star of "Jon & Kate Plus 8" returned to New York City to find his brand new, Upper West Side apartment burglarized and wrecked beyond belief.
In a statement to People magazine, Gosselin's lawyer, Mark Heller, said Gosselin told him that "he entered his apartment in Manhattan and was horrified, disheartened and saddened to observe the devastation of his furniture, clothing and personal belongings, which were apparently slashed with a butcher knife by a very troubled and sick perpetrator. Jon immediately contacted me and facilitated the able assistance of the New York City Police Department who immediately dispatched an experienced detective to Jon's apartment."
Heller said that Gosselin, 32, found a note "speared" into his wooden dresser. His television, CD player, coffee maker, Nintendo Wii, dishes, pots and pans had been taken from his home. Clothing, luggage and bedding were slashed, according to Heller.
This morning, Heller told Radar Online that security video will prove that Gosselin's recent girlfriend, Hailey Glassman, was to blame for the burglary and "is going to jail. It's as simple as that."
Heller was responding to Glassman's attorney, Anand Ahuja, who said in a statement to media outlets that the whole incident looked like an attempt to frame the 22-year-old girl. Glassman was interviewed by police Saturday, according to Radar.
"To me, it appears to be a huge publicity stunt," Ahuja said. "It appears that somebody is trying to frame my client, Hailey Glassman, because she didn't take anything from that apartment that she was not entitled to take with her. I don't see any truth in what is circling around in the media against my client."
ABCNews.com's calls and e-mails to Gosselin and Glassman's representatives for comment were not immediately returned.
Regardless of the perpetrator, according to Gosselin's lawyer, the reality TV star feels violated.
"Jon feels like he was raped," Heller told Radar. He added that investigators will speak to Jon again in several days and he expects criminal charges to be filed soon after that.
Gosselin and Glassman's relationship apparently went south one week ago. She reportedly moved out after posting on Twitter that he stole her rent money.
The burglary marks the latest in the never-ending saga for Gosselin. He officially divorced from ex-wife Kate Gosselin Dec. 18. She remains in Pennsylvania as the primary caregiver of the children.
