What Happened When Sarah Paulson Saw Herself Playing Marcia Clark
The Emmy-nominated actress has barely watched her portrayal in the FX series.
— -- Sarah Paulson has barely watched her portrayal of Marcia Clark in the limited series "The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story" -- and the little bit she did see nearly made her sick.
"I haven't seen any of it and I just saw a little bit of that verdict," the 41-year-old actress told the Television Critics Association in Beverly Hills on Tuesday, according to People magazine. "It literally made me physically ill. I thought I was going to cry and I was going to throw up."
Speaking at the show's panel, Paulson said of portraying the Simpson prosecutor, "I felt very, very connected to her and to watch her lose it is somehow separate enough for me -- and yet I feel inside of it."
The actress added that she's been forever changed by playing Clark.
"I didn't really think of her as a human being. I was just trying to honor what was on the page. Of course it changed the way I thought about her," Paulson admitted. "I feel like it changed me molecularly in a way. Who I was when I came into this and who I became when it was over has changed."
Paulson's portrayal earned her Emmy nomination for lead actress. The show is nominated for a total of 14 Emmys, including outstanding limited series.
