Haunted Celebrity Pokémon Hunt on 'GMA'
Ghoul Morning America! Two teams go for the ghostly gold—the elusive Pikachu.
-- Ghoul Morning America! The “GMA” Times Square studio was transformed into a haunted celebrity version of Pokémon Go, the popular mobile game.
Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos dressed up as Pokémon trainers to lead the way, pairing up with some kids to undertake a life-sized petrifying Pokémon Go game as they round up some of the most desirable Pokémon throughout the haunted “GMA” studio.
Which team will catch ‘em all?
Team George gets a little horrifying help from Sara Haines as they encounter a spooky cauldron with Poke balls, ultimately catching a mischievous Jigglypuff.
Team Robin is aided by the ghost-fighting Alfonso Ribeiro as they, too, come across the Poke ball-filled cauldron to eventually catch a Dory-mon, played by Ginger Zee.
They also catch a Sia-mon, played by Amy Robach, and come across Joker and Harley Quinn, played by “Dancing With the Stars” pros Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd.
Plenty of terrifying, tricky twists and turns occur before the giant Pikachu is revealed, who looks eerily similar to Michael Strahan.
In the end, Team Robin comes out victorious in the haunted Pokémon hunt.
Later in the show the “Pokemon” players are surprised by another celebrity, Tyler Perry, who joins by phone as his famous character Madea.
“Yes it’s me. It’s totally me. It’s really me,” Perry says as Madea.
Perry gives tips to “GMA” correspondent T.J. Holmes who appears on the show in costume as Madea. The character’s most recent movie, “Boo! A Madea Halloween,” topped the box office for the past two weeks.
“He just needs a little help,” Perry says, advising Holmes to end words like “Lord” with a “t” instead of a “d.”
