Why the Hockey Player Julianne Hough Has Been Holding Hands With Is Basically Perfect
News flash - he actually likes his family.
Feb. 18, 2014 -- Julianne Hough has perfect timing.
The former "Dancing With the Stars" pro told Self magazine that her "goal has been to be single for an entire year" following her split March 2013 split from Ryan Seacrest.
"I honestly don't care if I meet somebody or not. I'm just loving life on my own with my own two feet on the ground," she continued for Self's March issue.
Well, it's just a couple weeks away from the one-year mark and Hough has been seen holding hands with a new man.
But who exactly is Brooks Laich, 30, and why is he the perfect man for Hough after a year off the market?
Get ready Julianne, here are five reasons this guy is a keeper. Honestly, he's pretty perfect, it's kind of sickening. Think Canadian Robert Redford. Did we mention his name is Brooks?!
Laich is the alternate captain for the Washington Capitals. In 2011, he signed a six-year contract worth $27 million. He's scored double-digit goals in each of the last five seasons and had a career-high 25 in 2009-2010. Winning the Stanley Cup is still his ultimate goal.
"I dreamt about hoisting it as a kid, drew pictures of it, had posters of it on my wall," he said in his official bio. "The dream of winning the Stanley Cup is the driving force behind all my efforts, day in and day out, and the pursuit is relentless."
The "Rock of Ages" star may have met her match. In his spare time, he plays guitar and drums. Don't believe us, here's a tweet from the hockey star to prove it.
If you Google perfect relationship with your father, this picture Laich shared in January should pop up. It's ridiculous.
"My parents say that when I was just over a year old I would sit on their lap as they looked through the newspaper and point at every hockey picture and say 'hottey,'" Laich said in his bio. Now if Hough doesn't fall madly in love with this guy, then she needs to stop dating all together.
This is a true story, no joke. In 2010 after suffering a crushing defeat in Game 7 of the NHL Playoffs, Laich came across two Capitals fans - Mary Ann Wangemann and her 14-year-old daughter Lorraine - stuck with a flat tire on the Roosevelt Bridge.
He got out of his SUV, apologized for losing Game 7 and proceeded to change their tire for them.
"I'm sure you'll do something nice for someone in the future," Laich told the mother and daughter. He hugged them and drove off, reported the Washington Post.
Unreal.
"Being an uncle is simply one of the greatest thrills in my life - this is just so cool!!" Laich tweeted in October.
He followed that up by showing he likes to spoil his niece and nephews as well.
Well played Brooks, well played.
