Jamie Foxx: 'It's Time to Start Healing'
The actor wants his wants his viewers to focus on something uplifting to "heal."
-- While on “Good Morning America” to promote his new film “Annie,” Jamie Foxx took a moment to also tell viewers, “It’s time to start healing.”
“GMA” anchor Robin Roberts said the newly revamped “Annie,” which is a much more contemporary version of the 1982 musical movie classic, is “so worth the wait” for audiences to see, adding that the entire cast and the music is “what we need right now to just uplift the spirits.”
Foxx, 46, couldn’t agree more.
“We need that right now. Everybody, it’s time to start healing,” the actor explained. “I know there’s other things out there. We don’t want to come on here and make light. We don’t know what’s going on. But it’s really, really, really time to start healing. I know we’re promoting ‘Annie,’ but we just want to let everybody know, let’s heal.”
His costars, Quvenzhané Wallis, Cameron Diaz, Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale, also weighed in on how uplifting and fun it was to make the film, remarking on how their interpretation of the musical will bring little orphan Annie’s iconic story to a completely new audience.
“We made this movie for a totally new generation that hasn’t seen that movie,” Diaz said of the comparison. “They don’t know what the old ‘Annie’ is like. Maybe they’ll never see it. This is their ‘Annie.’”
The film opens nationwide Dec. 19.
