Joey and Rory Feek Celebrate Daughter Indiana's Second Birthday Amid Cancer Battle
The singers' little girl, Indiana, turns 2 today.
-- Today is a big day in the Feek household.
Country singing duo Joey and Rory Feek are celebrating their daughter Indiana's second birthday. They shared photos of the occasion on their Instagram page.
"...some birthdays are more than just birthdays. They're dreams coming true and prayers being answered," read the caption beneath a photo of Joey holding hands with her daughter.
The 40-year-old mom was diagnosed with cancer shortly after she gave birth to Indiana in May 2014. She is currently in hospice care at the family's home in Indiana.
"I always knew that when I get old or if something were to happen to me, Joey would be there beside me no matter what,” her husband and singing partner, Rory, told People magazine last month. “But I never dreamed that the roles might be reversed and life might require those things from me.”
The couple, who perform together as the country duo Joey + Rory, released a new album, "Hymns That Are Important to Us," on Feb. 12. Rory, 49, told People that they recorded the music in their bedroom last year because it meant so much to Joey.
"It wasn't easy, but it was important to her. Those are moments I'll never forget," he said. "Selfishly, I hope the whole world gets to discover what an amazing singer and woman my beautiful wife is, and that her music outlives not only the both of us, but also our children's children's children."
