Johnny Depp Surprises Fans at Disneyland as Mad Hatter
The actor caught park-goers off guard in a new video released on Wednesday.
-- Some Disneyland-goers had an unexpected visit from a different kind of costumed character -- Johnny Depp, in the flesh, dressed for his role as the Mad Hatter.
A new video promoting Disney’s "Alice Through the Looking Glass" released on Wednesday shows how the actor, sporting his Mad Hatter attire, was interacting with fans through a billboard fitted with hidden cameras.
Depp, 52, caught unsuspecting park-goers off-guard by winking, waving and smiling as they walked by the billboard.
"My name is Had Matter," Depp said to the excited crowd.
Depp also addressed several fans individually, even asking one young fan if he could fit her for a hat.
"You have a wonderful cranium," the actor said.
"Alice Through the Looking Glass" is the sequel to the 2010 live-action film "Alice in Wonderland," and follows Alice, played by Mia Wasikowska, as she returns to Wonderland and travels back in time to save the Mad Hatter.
In addition to Depp and Wasikowska, the film features Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen and Michael Sheen as the voice of the white rabbit.
"Alice Through the Looking Glass" hits theaters on May 27.
