-- The countdown has begun.
Jon Stewart’s final episode of “The Daily Show” will take place Aug. 6, the host announced Monday.
“I will be wearing a suit, I will more than likely be showered … I’m sorry, I’ll be wearing overalls and I won’t shower,” Stewart said during the filming of Monday’s episode.
Two tickets to the final taping are available in an online giveaway in support of New York Collaborates for Autism and Night of Too Many Stars.
Stewart, who has hosted the program for more than 15 years, cited the desire to pursue other endeavors, as well as presidential election cycle fatigue, among his reasons to step down in a recent interview with The Guardian.
"I also felt that, for the show, you don’t want to leave when the cupboard’s bare. So I think it’s a better introduction when you have something providing you with assisted fuel, like a presidential campaign," he told The Guardian. "But really, the value of this show is so much deeper than my contribution."
Trevor Noah will host the program after Stewart, 52, departs.
