Joni Mitchell Remains Hospitalized, Full Recovery Expected

The hospitalized singer's website issues update on her condition.

The announcement came in response to reports by media outlets that Mitchell was in a coma, something Mitchell's website firmly denied.

"Contrary to rumors circulating on the Internet today, Joni is not in a coma," the announcement said. "A full recovery is expected."

Mitchell, an eight-time Grammy winner, was rushed to an Los Angeles-area hospital on March 31 after being found unconscious in her Los Angeles home and placed in intensive care. The next day, a representative from her official website tweeted that she was "awake and in good spirits."

Today, Mitchell's website said Leslie Morris, a longtime friend of Mitchell's, has been given "the authority -- in the absence of 24-hour doctor care -- to make care decisions for Joni once she leaves the hospital."

When reached by ABC News, Morris had no comment.

Mitchell's website added: "As we all know, Joni is a strong-willed woman and is nowhere near giving up the fight. Please continue to keep Joni in your thoughts. You may add your well wishes for her at the website WeLoveYouJoni.com."
