Josh and Anna Duggar Reveal They're In Marriage Counseling
The family announced the news on their website Friday.
-- Josh and Anna Duggar revealed that they are trying to rebuild their marriage through counseling.
After thanking fans "for the prayers, love and encouragement," the Duggars said on Friday in a statement on their website: "Since the residential treatment program ended, we have been working with a professional marriage and family counselor to take important steps toward healing."
Josh, 28, the eldest son of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar who's family life was depicted on the TLC reality show, "19 Kids and Counting," left the treatment program back in March. He entered rehab after admitting that he was addicted to pornography and had been unfaithful to his wife.
"It isn't easy and some days are very difficult," the statement continued. "It is a long road to rebuild trust and a truly healthy relationship."
"We are very thankful for God’s forgiveness, grace and help, as it is our strength and guide to rebuilding our lives. As the future unfolds, we are taking one day at a time and we are grateful for your continued prayers for both of us and our sweet children," the statement concluded.
The Duggars, who wed in 2008, have four children, including Marcus, 2, Mackynzie, 6, Michael, 4, and Meredith Grace, 7 months.
Last year, Josh apologized for what he described as "inexcusable" actions after police reports from more than 12 years ago alleged that he had inappropriately touched underage girls -- including his sisters -- when he was 14 years old.
Subsequently, TLC canceled "19 Kids and Counting" in July after the initial scandal broke.
Anna, 27, explained why she was standing by her husband on TLC's "Jill & Jessa: Counting On" last December.
Calling Josh her "first love," Anna said her faith kept them from falling apart.
"I knew if I went off of what I was feeling, I would turn a mess into a disaster," she said. "In the stun and in the shock of everything, I was just praying, 'God, help me to respond to all of this.' I didn't know what to do. I knew we needed help, and I was just praying God would give the wisdom and the help that we needed to take the next step."
