Kanye West Talks Guns and Running for President
The rapper addressed gun violence in his hometown of Chicago.
-- Don't worry -- Kanye West is still running for president in 2020.
Just don't expect him to have any hard-hitting views on politics.
"I just have a view on humanity, on people, on the truth. If there is anything that I can do with my time and my day, to somehow make a difference while I'm alive, I'm going to try to do it," he told BBC Radio 1 on Monday.
The rapper talks about gun violence in America, particularly in his hometown of Chicago. "We are numb, we're numb to 500 kids getting killed in Chicago a year, we're numb to the fact that it was seven police shootings in the beginning of July," he said.
West also brought up his 2015 Glastonbury performance and how the failure of his backing track to correctly cue during the set made him depressed.
"When that music messed up in the beginning it tapped into my nerves, and when you're nervous or vulnerable something special and something different can happen," he said.
