Kate Gosselin and the Gang to Camp With Sarah Palin
Kate Gosselin travels to Alaska to tape "Kate Plus 8" with Sarah Palin.
July 23, 2010 -- Call her a maverick mom.
Kate Gosselin and her gang of eight kids have reportedly trekked up to Alaska to learn about America's 49th state from its most infamous resident: Sarah Palin.
According to In Touch Weekly, Gosselin and her kids will go camping with the former vice presidential candidate while cameras capture the action for Gosselin's latest TLC show, "Kate Plus 8."
Besides learning that they cannot, in fact, see Russia from Palin's home state, Gosselin's twins and sextuplets will be treated to a hands-on natural history lesson courtesy of Palin's father Chuck Heath, a retired science teacher, and brother Chuck Jr., a third-grade teacher.
Asked to comment on the report, representatives for Palin deferred to representatives for TLC, who issued a "no comment" when contacted by ABC News.
Gosselin may be traveling into unfamiliar territory with a clear conscience now that Pennsylvania labor officials have given her and her TLC ventures the green light to continue the show.
After investigating whether or not "Kate Plus 8" violated child labor laws, the state's labor department determined this week that the Gosselin kids are not being "unlawfully exploited" by filming at their Wernersville, Pa., home. Labor officials decreed that work permits protect the children from working too many hours and ensure they receive earnings from the TLC show.
Kate Gosselin Heads to Alaska, Jon Slims Down
Meanwhile, Jon Gosselin's keeping busy getting fit. He showed off a tanned and trimmer-than-ever physique on the beach in Ocean City, N.J., earlier this month.
Papa's also got a brand new girlfriend. His latest flame since his divorce from Kate Gosselin is 23-year-old Ellen Ross. On Monday, he gushed about her through his Twitter account.
"Had a fun weekend with the kids and @ellen_ross1," Jon Gosselin wrote. "Never spent so much time in a pool since I was a child!"
