Kate Winslet talks new film, admits she and Leonardo DiCaprio quote 'Titanic' lines to each other
"I know you love us even more now!" Winslet said.
-- Kate Winslet is starring in the soon-to-be released drama, "The Mountain Between Us."
The Oscar and Emmy award winning actress stopped by ABC's "Good Morning America" to discuss the new film, which co-stars Idris Elba and tells the story of love and survival as two strangers must work together in the wilderness after their plane crashes.
Winslet said she related personally to the movie since she met her husband during a house fire.
"When I first read this script, I was so moved by it because that really did happen to me," she said. "[T]hat man, that great stranger who was wonderful at keeping my kids' spirits up and making them laugh became my husband and so I really loved this story because you should never judge a stranger."
The release of "The Mountain Between Us" comes just two months before the 20th anniversary of the release of "Titanic."
"[I] had my 21st birthday on that film and Leo his 22nd birthday," Winslet said. "I'm about to turn 42 and he's turning 43 at the end of this year. Isn't that crazy?"
Winslet admitted that when she and her "Titanic" co-star, DiCaprio, are chatting, they quote Jack and Rose lines back and forth to each other.
"We do," she said, laughing. "I know you love us even more now!"
Winslet added, "I do feel so grateful for that friendship and, honestly, it is like family."
"The Mountain Between Us" hits theaters Oct. 6.
