Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and More Sign Billboard Letter to Congress Urging Gun Control
Those who signed support background checks.
-- More than 150 entertainers and executives, including Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Billy Joel, have signed a special “Open Letter to Congress” urging tighter gun laws that was put together by Billboard and released today.
In the wake of the massacre at Pulse nightclub in Orlando and the fatal shooting of singer Christina Grimmie, those who signed the letter are urging Congress to require a background check for every gun sale and block suspected terrorists from buying guns.
Others who lent their support are Meghan Trainor, Calvin Harris, Jennifer Lopez, Demi Lovato, Joe Jonas, Kesha, Adam Lambert, Diplo, Alicia Keys, Sia, Shakira, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, to name a few.
“As leading artists and executives in the music industry, we are adding our voices to the chorus of Americans demanding change,” the letter reads. “We call on Congress to do more to prevent the gun violence that kills more than 90 Americans every day and injures hundreds more.”
