Kelly Rutherford Reunited with Two Children, Says 'It's Emotional'
Rutherford spoke today on 'The View' about having kids back.
-- Actress Kelly Rutherford was finally reunited with her two children Hermes, 8, and Helena, 6, over July 4 weekend in New York City.
On Monday, she spoke on "The View" about the reunion.
"It's incredible. It's emotional. It's incredible," she said on the panel.
The "Gossip Girl" star, 46, was in Manhattan's Upper East Side over the weekend, carrying her daughter for a bit, as the three were all smiles back together again. Her son Hermes even rode a scooter for a stretch.
This reunion comes after more than six years in court between the actress and her ex-husband Daniel Giersch. Rutherford won temporary sole custody in May from a California judge and was given back her children's passports, so they could return to the U.S.
A lawyer for the actress tells ABC News that the children will be here all summer. Rutherford also posted a photo of a cake for Helena over the weekend for her "belated birthday celebration," she wrote on Instagram.
Rutherford filed for divorce from Giersch in 2009, but he stayed abroad with the children after he was refused reentry into the States and a judge later ruled the children should live in France with their father. Rutherford wasn't accused of any wrongdoing, the judge just thought it was best for the two to grow up in one place, not fly back and forth to and from Europe.
Rutherford spoke to "Good Morning America" earlier this year, saying, "Everyone knows it’s not right" about that ruling.
Until this recent ruling in California, Rutherford had to fly abroad to see her children.
“I can sit here and tell you how often I cry … I can tell you how it feels to leave my kids in a foreign country…to see them after not seeing them for weeks on end,” she told "GMA."
Another hearing is scheduled for this week in California, Rutherford's attorney added. She added on "The View" that the hearing will be to see if California can maintain jurisdiction in this case.
