Kit Harrington Reveals the 'Curse' of 'Game of Thrones'

The actor, who plays Jon Snow in the series, opens up about the experience.

— -- For Kit Harington, playing Jon Snow on "Game of Thrones" has been a plum gig.

However, there are downsides.

"'Game Of Thrones' is my life, it's my day job, I love it," he told GQ UK. "But honestly, if there is a curse of 'Thrones, 'it's a lifetime of having to talk about it."

For Harington, 27, landing a starring role on the HBO show so early on his career has been a blessing ("It would be foolish to say I wish I'd gone through a period of longing," he admitted) but it also requires hard work and dedication. To wit, he is not allowed to cut his long locks while he's filming.

As a result, "I'm more recognizable in public than much better-known actors," he said. "So many people watch, and I go around looking like my character!"

Not that he minds the attention. When asked about actors, Harington described them as "narcissists."

"Every single one, I promise you," he said. "To have that verve, to get up and want to be watched. It comes from a place - either you were denied that attention as a child, or you were given lots of it and want more. Which is where I land."
