Kurt Russell Joins 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2'

More cast members were revealed by director James Gunn.

— -- "Guardians of the Galaxy" director James Gunn just announced a pretty big addition to the sequel of his surprise 2014 blockbuster.

Russell, 64, had been rumored to be in the movie.

The director promised more surprises in the coming months, which all comic fans hope is a possible Hulk cameo. The last we saw of the green monster, he was in "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and took off in a Quinjet, maybe to outer space?

"Guardians Vol. 2" is set to hit theaters in May 2017. There's no word on who Russell will play, but separately it's been reported Pratt's Star-Lord may meet his father, who was mentioned in the first film and is supposedly of alien origin.

Marvel and ABC News are both owned by The Walt Disney Co.
