Marie Osmond Remarries First Husband

Famous for second chances, the star remarried ex after 30 years.

May 5, 2011— -- From her early days as one half of Donnie and Marie to a career rebirth on "Dancing With the Stars," where she famously fainted, to her dramatic weight loss, Marie Osmond's life had been full of second chances.

Now she has made headlines for another second-chance story. Nearly 30 years after saying "I do" for the first time, Osmond has remarried her first husband, Stephen Craig.

In 1982, Osmond talked about her marriage to Craig to "Good Morning America."

"As far as Steve is concerned, I have never found anyone I respect more, who I love more," Osmond said of the marriage that lasted three years and produced a son.

Her second marriage ended in 2007.

Her brother, Donnie Osmond, said she's over the moon about remarrying Craig Wednesday. "These two people belong together and it feels right," he said in a recent interview with "Entertainment Tonight."

Remarriages aren't uncommon. The 2009 movie "It's Complicated," staring Meryl Streep, Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin, is centered around a divorced couple having an affair together.

But it doesn't just happen in the movies: Think Liz Taylor and Richard Burton. Robert Wagner married Natalie Wood twice.

Even Judge Judy explained to "GMA" this week why she and her ex-husband remarried.

"He learned his lesson and now he can come back and that is wonderful," Judge Judy told Robin Roberts Wednesday.

Osmond, 51, has had her troubles: depression, two divorces and the suicide of son Michael, 18, last year. It was reportedly Craig who helped her to cope.

She appeared on "Oprah" after her son's death. "This is probably the hardest thing I've been through," Osmond told Winfrey.

Bethany Marshall, a psychoanalyst, said, "One of the reasons people reach back to old lovers is they want to reach back for really positive memories, and all that passion you once had."

Osmond will appear live with brother Donnie on "GMA" Monday.
