Mark Hamill Dresses Up as a Stormtrooper for Charity
Hamill went undercover in Hollywood.
-- In case you were wondering where is Mark Hamill in all the marketing craze over the upcoming "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," well, we've found him.
He's gone undercover as a stormtrooper!
Hamill, 64, who has played coy about his involvement in the new movie, appears in a new Star Wars YouTube video to promote an Omaze fundraising campaign for 15 charities chosen by the cast of the new "Star Wars" movie.
"The last time anybody saw me in a stormtrooper outfit was when we rescued the princess on the Death Star," Hamill says in the video before hitting Hollywood Boulevard, where he approached strangers about donating to the Omaze campaign for a chance to win four tickets to the premiere of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
Unrecognized, he chats up passersby, including one guy who wondered if he could borrow Hamill's outfit for the premiere.
"Listen, if you want it, you can have it," Hamill responds in the video. "It's not that comfortable. I can't see very well."
He also encounters a fan dressed as Darth Vader, dances with a couple kids and asks a guy if he'd like to meet Mark Hamill.
"I'd love to," the guy responds, "that's the man, besides you."
One woman confesses to the undercover star that she's been in love with "Mark Hamilton," while another young fan wielding a light saber reveals that Luke Skywalker was his favorite character.
In the end, Hamill goes undetected.
"I couldn’t be more proud of everyone in the 'Star Wars' family," he says at the end of the video. "Your support has been absolutely fantastic, and I for one can’t wait for the premiere."
Omaze will chose two lucky winners, who, along with three friends each, will get to walk the red carpet at either the Los Angeles or London premiere. They will also meet the cast and attend the after party. Flights and hotels are also covered.
You have only until 11:59 p.m. PST on Friday, Dec. 4, to make a donation and enter the drawing.
