Meet Lindsey Vonn's New Puppy Leo
Find out the sweet reason they were "meant for each other," she says.
Jan. 9, 2013 -- Lindsey Vonn may be devastated that she had to drop out of the Olympic Games because of her injured knee, but a new puppy might help.
Vonn took to Instagram Wednesday to announce she adopted Leo, a 9-month-old dog "from an animal shelter."
"He has cheered me up so much!" she wrote. "He was hit by a car and has a bad knee. Maybe we can do rehab together!"

She added on Facebook, "No one wanted him...but I do!! I encourage anyone looking for an animal to adopt from a shelter and save a life!"
The photos she posted show Vonn, 29, cuddling on the couch and laughing with her new friend, coupled with the hashtags "meantforeachother" and "bumkneebuddies."

This adoption comes one day after she announced Tuesday "I will not be able to compete in Sochi. I did everything I possibly could to somehow get strong enough to overcome having no ACL but the reality has sunk in that my knee is just too unstable to compete at this level."
Vonn won the gold medal in 2010 at the Winter Olympics and has six consecutive World Cup season titles in the downhill.
Hopefully her boyfriend Tiger Woods is a dog person!
