Meet the Star of 'Jem and the Holograms': Aubrey Peeples
Here's 5 things to know about the star!
April 25, 2014 -- Everyone meet Aubrey Peeples, who is "truly outrageous" and ready for her first starring role in "Jem and the Holograms."
The Hollywood Reporter announced today that the young actress will take on her first major movie role as the hip singer from the mid-1980's.
"So this is what I've been working on @jemthemovie #JemTheMovie," she Tweeted Thursday.
Her music is contagious and here are five other things to know about this young actress.
1 - She Hates Sharks (At Least On Film)
Peeples starred in 2013's "Sharknado," a hit movie on social media about a freak hurricane in Los Angeles that literally leaves the city's residents running from sharks falling from the skies. She's also had roles in "Grey's Anatomy," "Drop Dead Diva" and "Nashville."
2 - She Can't Drink Legally
She's only 20 and doesn't turn 21 until November. Hopefully the movie comes out after so she can toast at the premiere!
She also wasn't Alive When 'Jem' Was On TV. "Jem and the Holograms" ran from 1985 to 1988, long before she was born in 1993. Luckily there is this thing called the Internet, so she can catch up on her character.
3 - She's From the Sunshine State
Peeples was born and raised in Lake Mary, Florida. She came up doing theater at the Orlando Repertory Theatre. You know who also got their start in Orlando? 'N Sync, do we smell a future movie between Peeples and Justin Timberlake?
4 - She Can Cook!
"Rice, chicken, vegetable stir fry. Thank you to my Aunt who taught me how to utilize peanut butter in as many ways as possible," she posted earlier in the month next to a dleicious looking stir fry.
Other times she just loves a Cup-a-Soup.
5 - She's Super Smart
Peeples was accepted to Harvard University in 2012 and deferred twice because of acting.
"I had deferred Harvard the first time to work in L.A.," she told Lake Mary Life, then after deciding to go to school, she landed a role on "Nashville" and had to defer again. "I literally had to rearrange my whole life and get on a plane and move to Nashville."
