Meg Ryan Reunites With Tom Hanks, Makes Directorial Debut on New Film 'Ithaca'
"Ithaca" opens in select theaters and is available on demand this Friday.
-- America's sweetheart Meg Ryan is now a triple threat.
The actress is starring in her new World War II, coming-of-age film, "Ithaca," which she also co-wrote and directed.
Ryan's real-life son, Jack Quaid, plays her character's son in the movie, but the actress said Jack's no rookie in the industry.
"[He’d done] 10,000 hours of directing and writing and acting by the time he was, like, 10," Ryan said of her 24-year-old son. "So the kids were always around the house making little movies and things and so by the time he got to my set, he'd already been to Martin Scorsese's set, he's now on Steven Soderbergh's set."
In the film, Ryan, 54, has yet another reunion with longtime co-star Tom Hanks, who plays her late husband.
"He's so adorable that he, like, gathered the crew around after the 10 hours that he worked and said, 'I'm so happy that we got to know each other so well in these last 10 hours, but thank you for being here for my friend Meg,'" Ryan said of working on-set with Hanks. "So adorable."
