Megan Fox vs. Lindsay Lohan: Who's More of a Marilyn Monroe Wannabe?
Megan Fox and Lindsay Lohan claim to be Monroe's biggest fan.
Sept. 26, 2009 -- Today's reigning tabloid queens, 23-year-olds Lindsay Lohan and Megan Fox, have more in common than being sometime-actresses and all-the-time trouble-makers.
The two starlets claim to be the biggest Marilyn Monroe fan out there.
It seems the two Irish-American celebs are in direct competition to be crowned the next Marilyn.
Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing, we don't know, but IrishCentral decided to take a look at the stars' stats and decide: who's more of a Marilyn wannabe?
Tattoos:
The most glaringly obvious sign that Lohan and Fox are mega-Monroe fans is their body art.
Both girls have many tattoos, but their most famous ones are their tributes to their idol.
Lindsay has two tats of famous Monroe quotes. The newest one, which she sports on her right arm, reads in cursive: "I restore myself when I'm alone," and is surrounded by multi-colored stars.
This marking matches the one on her other arm, which reads: "Stars, all we ask for is our right to twinkle," a play on Marilyn's famous saying: "Everyone's a star and deserves the right to twinkle."
Megan, meanwhile, went a step further with her devotion to Marilyn's memory and had a large photo of the legendary starlet's face tattooed on her right forearm.
Of the body ink, Fox has said: "I committed to having her face on my arm for the rest of my life, so I have to be a pretty big fan."
Megan is the clear winner in the Marilyn tattoo war – having someone's face etched into your skin is way more hardcore than committing to a quote or two.
Behavior:
Both starlets have made attempts to emulate Monroe – both on set and off.
In the last years of Monroe's tragically short life, she was known to be unreliable extremely difficult to work with on set.
Lohan has the same bad professional rep. While shooting "Georgia Rule" in 2007, a scathing letter to the actress from a studio exec was leaked. It read: "You and your representatives have told us that your various late arrivals and absences from the set have been the result of illness; today we were told it was 'heat exhaustion'. We are well aware that your ongoing all night heavy partying is the real reason for your so-called 'exhaustion.'"
Fox's on-set behavior is rumored to be just as bad.
Just recently, the crew from the "Transformers" movies that made the actress a star wrote her a humiliating public letter, branding her "dumb as a rock," "the grump of the set" and "as about ungracious a person as you can ever fathom."
Points to both of you ladies for your crappy work behavior!
But what about their personal lives? Marilyn Monroe was known to dabble in drugs and the hard-partying Hollywood lifestyle, so what about these girls?
Fox is very open about loving to smoke pot, but the "bad girl" award goes to Lohan, who's been arrested for drunk driving, has been to rehab three times and is said to be a big fan of coke and other drugs.
So, Lindsay, you win (or lose?) this category.
Channeling Marilyn:
Lindsay gets major points here for literally channeling Marilyn by famously recreating "The Last Sitting" photos of the Hollywood screen legend in New York magazine last year.
Then, on the August 2009 cover of Spanish Vogue, Lohan "becomes" Marilyn again, sporting a blonde wig, posing like the legendary star and donning a dress plastered with Marilyn's face. The magazine even dubs Lohan "La Nueva Marilyn" – "The New Marilyn."
In 2007, the "Mean Girls" actress even went to the extreme when she purchased an L.A. apartment once owned by Monroe, and has since filled her home with Marilyn memorabilia.
But though Lohan poses as Marilyn in magazines, and attempts to live like the star, Fox seems to think she is Marilyn, reincarnated.
Megan, who's been seen toting around Monroe literature like "Goddess: The Secret Of Marilyn Monroe," recently revealed in an interview with Britain's Wonderland magazine that she thinks she'll end up like her idol.
"I basically read every book ever written about Marilyn Monroe," she said. "I could end up like that because I constantly struggle with the idea that I think I'm a borderline personality – or that I have bouts of mild schizophrenia. I definitely think I have some kind of mental problem and I haven't pinpointed what it is."
And this isn't the first time Fox has felt like she's in Marilyn's shoes.
She's also said: "I just had an incredible amount of empathy for her my whole life. I cry when I see her on camera."
So Megan Fox, you win. You ARE today's Marilyn Monroe – for better or worse.
