Meghan McCain marries Ben Domenech
The couple were married Tuesday in a ceremony in Arizona.
-- Meghan McCain and Ben Domenech wed each other Tuesday in Arizona, a publicist for "The View" co-host confirmed to ABC News Tuesday night.
The wedding comes just three weeks after McCain, 33, and the conservative writer, 35, formally announced their engagement.
The couple's wedding was first reported by People magazine.
“Meghan McCain and Ben Domenech were married today at the McCain family lodge in Sedona, Arizona,” a representative for McCain told People. "The bride’s father, Senator John McCain, gave her away and they were married by John Dickerson. Following the ceremony, McCain and Domenech celebrated with dinner and dancing surrounded by their family and close friends."
McCain previously said that she and Domenech got engaged at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix while her father underwent a scan related to his diagnosis of glioblastoma, a type of brain tumor. Their promise to marry, she said, was "to sort of celebrate life and celebrate being alive."
However, McCain did not divulge the news to the public for some time, in part because she doesn't consider it to be "an achievement."
"I was hoping to get married and people wouldn't find out, but people talk sometimes," she added. "I love him very much and I'm very happy."
