How Melissa Joan Hart's Hubby Keeps Her Fit
Actress maintains her 40-pound weight loss working out with husband.
Jan. 8, 2015 -- Melissa Joan Hart has found the perfect way to stay fit and spend quality time with her husband, Mark Wilkerson: working out together.
The "Melissa & Joey" star turned to her hubby for help after losing a total of 40 pounds over two years with Nutrisystem.
"Since he's such an avid workout guy, I wanted to have him train me to see how my body could shift and change," Hart, 38, told People.
Fortunately for both of them, working out together had an added benefit.
"This is a good way to join together and spend time---just the two of us---away from the kids," Wilkerson, 37, told the magazine. "[It also helps] get her back in shape after three babies."
The singer-songwriter is referring to the couple's three boys, Mason, 8, Braydon, 6 and Tucker, 2.
The couple spend one hour, three days a week, focusing mainly on weight training. In addition, Hart attends cardio classes two days a week.
But she knows exercise will only take her so far.
"You can't out-train bad nutrition. I love that saying," the "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" alum told People. "Eighty percent of it is nutrition."
To maintain her weight loss, Hart sticks to Nutrisystem shakes for breakfast, salads for lunch and either chicken or beef with vegetables for dinner.
She also doesn't bother with a scale, relying instead on how her jeans fit.
