Hurricane Harvey: Miranda Lambert mobilizes MuttNation to help the animals in Texas

The singer's MuttNation charity is in Houston.

The singer, a native Texan, noted that there are trucks heading to Houston today to pick up another load.

“MuttNation rescued 72 dogs today who are being transported to dry safe shelters," she tweeted on Tuesday, along with a picture of a black dog and at least five puppies. "Mama & newborns born this morning."

The MuttNation team headed to Houston on Monday to lend support to shelters in the municipal area, and by Tuesday night, Lambert, 33, herself was doing her part.

Since Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texas last Friday, at least 17 people have died. According to Harris County Judge Ed Emmet, an estimated 30,000 to 40,000 homes have been destroyed.
