Nick Cannon Speaks Out on Mariah Carey Split
"I’m just taking everything one day at a time," he said.
-- Nick Cannon, 34, is taking things "one day at a time," after his separation from his wife, Mariah Carey, earlier this year.
The actor spoke to "Extra" this week in New York, going on the record for the first time about his split.
“I’m just taking everything one day at a time and just being the best person that I can possibly be at the end of the day,” he told "Extra" at the premiere of “Addicted."

Cannon also addressed recent photos of the tattoo on his back that now covers the one he had in tribute to his wife.
"It’s not finished yet," he said. "I'll talk to you when it gets finished. It wasn’t supposed to be revealed yet. I was not in the middle of the street. I was on private property. I didn’t know they were there. That’s how sneaky paparazzi are."
Regarding the reason he was photographed with his shirt off, he said, "I gotta be careful. I had just gotten it done. it was painful. I couldn't have anything touching it."
The "Drumline" star also spoke about his twins with Carey -- Moroccan and Monroe, 3.
"They are great man. They are doing amazing. They are on the road right now with mommy on tour," he said. "It's all love, man."
He claimed the media, lacking information about the split, tries to create stories.
“I just wish her nothing but the best," he said of Carey. "We’re in contact constantly. You know, you might have an off night here and there, but she’s one of the greatest performers and entertainers of all time. She’s not worried. We’re not worried. Just going to keep pushing."
News of the separation first broke in late August.
"The Insider" reported that Cannon told the site he and his wife were living apart and there was "trouble in paradise," but he tweeted that he hadn't yet done any interviews on his relationship.
