Nick Lachey Reveals He and Vanessa Have Chosen a Baby Name
"It wasn’t just a random name in a book," he said. "It's a cool name."
-- Nick Lachey is expecting his second child with his wife Vanessa in January, and they're busy getting ready.
One thing they can check off the to-do list, however, is choosing a name for their baby girl.
"It wasn't just a random name in a book," Lachey told ABC News. "We try to find something that’s going to have meaning for us and I think it’s a cool name! But if I reveal it, I would be raked over the coals."
Lachey, 41, and his wife, 34, are already parents to a 2-year-old son, Camden, whom they recently took to Disneyland for the first time. ("It was a great family weekend," he gushed.) They had a lot to celebrate: Not only did both parents celebrate their birthdays on Nov. 9, but Lachey also just released a new album of cover songs that have influenced him, "Soundtrack of My Life."
"The song that's the most meaningful for me is 'Falling Slowly' from 'Once,'" he said. "That became a theme for Vanessa and I and that's the one that personally means the most. It was performed at our wedding shower so it's a special song for us."
However, the singer said while making this album was a dream realized, he can't go on a promotional tour the same way he would have several years ago. Not only is he constantly going back and forth between New York City, where he hosts "Big Morning Buzz" on VH1, and L.A., where his family is, but he's also flying to his hometown of Cincinnati every chance he can to check on the sports bar, Lachey's Bar, that he's opening with his brother Drew next month.
"This was a project I toyed with for the better part of a decade, and finally we said, 'Enough talking about it, let's put our money where our mouth is,'" he said. "And Vanessa is very supportive of me wanting to do this and me wanting to have identity in Cincinnati."
That support goes both ways. Calling his wife "a trooper," Lachey said they're working hard to prepare their son for being a big brother.
"I don’t know that he’s fully realized what’s going on on but he definitely knows his baby sister's in mommy's belly, and he says 'good night' and 'I love you' to her," Lachey said. "It's when she's here and stealing all his thunder and attention that it's really going to set in, but it'll be exciting!"
