Who Won 'Dancing With The Stars' 2010?
Nicole Scherzinger and partner Derek Hough were crowned season ten DWTS champs
May 26, 2010 -- In the end, it was billed as a battle beteween "the supreme performer versus the supreme athlete."
Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger (the performer) was pitted against Olympic figure skater Evan Lysacek (the athelete) in the tenth season finale of "Dancing With the Stars" Tuesday night. ESPN sportscaster Erin Andrews had been eliminated halfway through the two-hour finale.
And it would be the Doll who would bring home the ball. The coveted mirror ball trophy was, finally, awarded to Scherzinger and her pro partner Derek Hough, the season ten DWTS champs.
"It's been such a blast. We were totally satisfied with everything we gave," said a gracious Lysacek. "They deserve it."
The grand finale also brought former contestants Pam Anderson, Niecy Nash, Jake Pavelka, Buzz Aldrin and Kate Gosselin back onto the floor for command performances (none of which did much to convince anyone that their being voted off had been a mistake).
Chad Ochocinco was supposed to dance, but the NFL star had been sidelined by a football injury.
Kate's highly publicized "high wire" act turned out to be more of a ... crane act. At the end of her "Paparazzi" paso doble reprise, she was framed in a close-up shot and, sudddenly, appeared to levitate high above the stage.
For their final dances, all three remaining contestants chose the Argentine tango. The judges congratulated all three couples, saying it's been the highest standard of dancing and the best season of DWTS to date.
Then they told Erin Andrews to pack her things.
"This experience has meant everything to me," said the ESPN sportscaster upon getting the boot. She then referenced her recent experience with a stalker. "I came here under really crummy circumstances and I just wanted to get my life back together and my smile back and I just wanted to be myself again."
