Olivia Munn Addresses 'Unfair' Plastic Surgery Rumors
The 35-year-old actress explains why she looks "different" in some photos.
— -- Olivia Munn is setting the record straight about those "unfair" plastic surgery rumors.
In an interview with Fashion magazine, Munn addressed recent rumors that she's had plastic surgery, explaining that she looks different on camera because of makeup techniques that her team uses for red carpet appearances.
Munn, 35, revealed that after she posted a photo of herself from a recent red carpet event, fans accused her of having work done because she looked "different."
"People were like, 'What did she do to her face?'" Munn said. "A week later, I looked completely different."
The "X-Men: Apocalypse" actress went on to say that while no one complains when she undergoes a transformation for a role, real life is a "different story."
"As an actor, you can be completely transformative and take on different roles," Munn said. "As an individual in the world, it’s a totally different story."
"We live in a time where there’s so many pictures that bring so much scrutiny," she continued. "When your face changes because of makeup, it’s hard to let people know that you’re not actually doing surgery or fillers.”
Munn also called out the "unfair" judgment that society puts on women, using Lena Dunham as an example of the lose-lose situation that women encounter regarding their looks.
“People have so much to say about Lena Dunham getting naked on 'Girls.' To me, that is more of a problem," Munn said. "That’s where it’s unfair: the judgment that is put on women for how we look.
"If you’re looking bad, you have to cover up," she continued. "If you’re looking good, you’ve done something or made a deal with the devil.”
