Oscars 2015: What to Expect From Host Neil Patrick Harris
Basically, the Oscars will be "legen ... wait for it ... dary!"
-- From the second he was announced in October as the Oscars 2015 host, you knew what you'd be getting from Neil Patrick Harris come Sunday.
The "How I Met Your Mother" star is primed and ready to go. In many ways, he's the perfect Oscars host given his extensive TV and performing background.

Here are all the reason Harris, 41, will bring the funny on Sunday night:
His Incredible Witty Sense of Humor
Have you seen "How I Met Your Mother"? Harris played Barney Stinson, a wise-cracking, smooth talker who used cons to get women into bed. His timing and delivery are impeccable. From "This night is going to be legen .. wait for it, I'm lactose intolerant so I can't have .... dary!" to "Have you met Ted," Harris made his mark on the long running show in more ways than one.
He even announced his hosting duties in a fun way, posting a video where he checks hosting the Oscars off a bucket list.
Harris, the father of two, who married his partner David Burtka last September, is a pretty fun-loving guy, but if he does choose to razz the nominees a little bit -- he's the man for the job. He's really the closest comedian out there to Tina Fey. He will look you dead in the eye, straight-faced and when he opens his mouth, you lose it laughing.
The jokes will be appropriate though. Harris told the LA Times in a recent interview.
"They have to make sure they're comfortable and appropriately biting. …Within the first hour, you have a lot of losers in the audiences who are not happy. And toward the end of the night, you have to look out and see four out of every five people have lost. It's important to be as funny as you can be and as appropriate as you can be," Harris said.
He's a Broadway Star -- So Expect Dancing and Singing
Along with starring in "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" on Broadway, Deadline reported last month that the songwriters from the hit movie "Frozen" will be writing a musical number for Harris.
"We love the Oscars and have always been huge Neil Patrick Harris fans, so when he asked us to write him a song for this year’s show we said, ‘Yes!’ before he could finish the sentence – it’s possible he may have been asking us for something else,” said Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.
In fact, Harris added to the LA Times, he's been doing Yoga, so he should be extra limber to sing and dance.
"When they're seeing you standing tall for many hours, I don't want to be locked up," he said.
Lots of Experience All Around
In a teaser video released earlier this week, Harris said, "Neil [Meron] and Craig [Zadan, show producers] have seen what didn't work in previous iterations. They're confident in what does work and they know why. ... They really want things that can only happen on the show, that you have to watch the show to see."
In addition to the producers who are season, Harris is a seasoned host.
He hosted the Tony Awards in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013, and he hosted the Primetime Emmy Awards in 2009 and 2013.
"If anything, I think it's your job to be out there a lot, like a dinner party," he said. "I keep saying, 'Hi, welcome back!' The host is a puppet master."
Harris has reviewed the past years' shows to "see what's left" for him to do on Sunday.
He added, "there's going to be a musical number at some point in the show. ... I'm a magician, so I wouldn't be surprised if there was a hint of magic. I fear I've said too much."
