The Oscars: Top 5 Backstage Moments

Octavia Spencer got candid backstage at the Oscars.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif.
Feb. 27, 2012 — -- Octavia Spencer's cry face. Jean Dujardin's victory cry. Meryl Streep trying not to cry. There was a lot of, well, crying on stage at Sunday's Oscars, but backstage, the winners beamed and reflected on what scoring Hollywood's most coveted trophy really means to them. Below, check out the top five Oscar moments you didn't see:

Octavia Spencer (winner, best supporting actress, "The Help") to ABCNews.com on her dream role: "I don't have one role that I want to play. I guess you know what, I want to be a producer. I want to be an activist. I want to be proactive in bringing about work for men, women, boys, girls, everybody who is good at what they do and deserve a shot at it. So I think my role, I want to have a presence both behind the scenes and in front of the camera. So I can't say on one particular thing, so I'll just name them all. I'll be the jack of all trades and hopefully decent at one of them."

Meryl Streep (winner, best actress, "The Iron Lady") on her "Iron Lady" makeup: "Honestly, when we first had the old age makeup on, I saw my dad. You know, I looked so much like my dad. Maybe my dad looked like Margaret Thatcher, I don't know."

The journey to the Oscars

Chirstopher Plummer (winner, best supporting actor, "The Beginners") on thanking his wife: "Of course I'm a naughty boy, I've been bad all my life and she always puts me in line. I think it's great what she does, she's extraordinary."

Jim Rash (winner, best adapted screenplay, "The Descendents"), on posing like Angelina Jolie: "I just saw her pose and I thought, you know what, we have exactly the same legs and I wanted to show everyone what it meant. It was a loving tribute. It was more like, oh, she's standing, great, I'm going to stand like that, too."

Thomas Langman (winner, best picture, "The Artist") on his good luck charm: "I must say my daughter gave me a coin and that I had in my pocket. I didn't think we would win the Oscar, and we won. So, a few awards before Jean Dujardin, I told him, 'Put this in your pocket.' Then he win. And I went back to see him, and I said, 'Give me back my daughter's coin,' and it was in my pocket."
