People's Choice Awards 2016: Recap and Winners List

— -- It was a surprisingly emotional night at the People's Choice Awards Wednesday.
Vin Diesel fought back tears as he accepted the awards for Favorite Movie and Favorite Action Movie for "Furious 7." He thought of his late co-star, Paul Walker, who died in a car crash, and said, "When we didn't want to come back to film when the tragedy was too heavy, it was the love of everyone combined that saw us through to the end."
"And now I am standing here with all of you telling me this was your favorite film of the year," he added.
Diesel closed his speech by singing "See You Again," the hit song from "Furious 7."
On a lighter note, Sandra Bullock shared a story about her family after she was named Favorite Movie Actress. She said that her 5-year-old son, Louis, asked her earlier if he'd win an award for the home videos they've made. When she asked him what he would say to the audience, he replied, "I would like to say, 'Thank you to the world, and thank you to the planet.'"
The strangest moment of the night came when the co-hosts of "The Talk," the winners of the Favorite Daytime TV Hosting Team award, were interrupted by a man plugging some album. No, it wasn't Kanye West.
Other stars on hand at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles to accept awards included Melissa McCarthy, Chris Hemsworth, Claire Danes, the casts of "The Big Bang Theory" and "Grey's Anatomy," and Taylor Kinney, who thanked his fiancée, Lady Gaga, who did not attend.
Ellen DeGeneres received the People's Choice Award for Favorite Humanitarian. As part of the honor, a $100,000 donation will be made by Walgreens to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Jane Lynch hosted the two-hour broadcast. She opened the show by performing a parody of the WALK THE MOON hit "Shut Up and Dance," singing, "Stand up and choose with me."
Minutes later, she did a spoof of Steve Harvey's infamous mistake at the Miss Universe pageant that involved "Odd Couple" star Thomas Lennon.
There were musical performances during the broadcast by Favorite Breakthrough Artist winner Shawn Mendes, who delivered a medley that included "Stitches" and a duet with Fifth Harmony's Camila Cabello on "I Know What You Did Last Summer"; Jason Derulo, who sang "Want To Want Me" and "Get Ugly"; and reigning "Voice" champ Jordan Smith.
