Prince Charles's Spirited Saudi Sword Dance
The British royal performed enthusiastically on day two of his Gulf visit.
Feb. 19, 2014 -- Prince Charles enthusiastically got down on the dance floor on Tuesday night, but not with the moves one might expect of the British heir to the throne.
The 65-year-old prince, dressed in a traditional ankle-length shirt and checkered red and white keffiyeh, brandished a sword as he joined members of the Saudi Arabian royal family for the Ardah (sword dance) in the capital Riyadh, reported the AFP.
The all-male ceremony, usually witnessed at events such as weddings, was performed as part of the Saudi Janadriyah Festival of culture which continues for about two weeks.
This is the prince’s 10th official Saudi trip. He will also be visiting Qatar as part of his Middle East tour.
