Prince Remembered in Impersonations, 'New Girl'

The music legend famously gave a nod to Dave Chapelle's impression of him.

The musician, who died Thursday at the age of 57, famously used comedian Dave Chapelle’s image on the cover of his single “Breakfast Can Wait” in a nod to a skit by Chapelle.

After the game, Prince served them pancakes.

The pancake story became a part of Prince’s lore. He later talked about it in a radio interview, confirming the story. The 2013 cover art for “Breakfast Can Wait” featured Chappelle dressed in a “Purple Rain” costume.

Prince put himself on the big and small screens, notably appearing with “The Muppets” and, in 2014, appearing as himself in a now-classic episode of “New Girl.”

“He just liked the show,” Entertainment Weekly critic Leah Greenblatt told ABC News. “It was fun for him. He liked to do stuff like that but I think on his own terms.”

After Prince’s death, the stars of “New Girl” took to social media to pay tribute.
