Prince's Former Backup Band Announces Reunion Shows
Find out where and when the band will play.
-- Prince's former backup band, The Revolution, has just announced plans for a set of reunion shows following the iconic singer's death in April.
The band will play two shows, on Sept. 2 and 3, at the First Avenue & 7th St Entry venue in Minneapolis, Minnesota, which Prince and the group helped to make famous.
"When we first spoke to The Revolution, and the conversation turned to a possible reunion, it only seemed natural to bring them to First Avenue -- to bring them home," according to a post written by First Avenue's General Manager Nate Kranz on the venue's website.
The Revolution, comprised of Wendy Melvoin, Lisa Coleman, Brown Mark, Dr. Fink and Bobby Z, also made a statement about the forthcoming live event.
"Only by playing for you, the fans, can we be Prince's Revolution. He gives Us 2 one another now, as we all heal and fill forever emptiness with sound. 2gether, we are The Revolution," the band said.
Tickets for both nights go on sale Friday, July 8, at 11 a.m. CT.
