How Recent Snowstorm Was 'Manna From Heaven' for Dying Joey Feek
Dying country singer was consoled by a recent snowstorm in her Indiana hometown.
— -- Country-singing duo Rory Feek and his dying wife Joey Feek greeted a recent snowstorm in their Indiana hometown with childlike glee.
"You would’ve thought the heavens had parted and Jesus had come back, by the light in her eyes," Rory wrote on his blog "This Life I Live: Scenes From One Man's Extraordinary, Ordinary Life," chronicling his wife's battle against cervical cancer. "It was like God was sending light into the darkness she was feeling."
In the post titled, "Manna From Heaven," Rory wrote that his wife became upset by the thought of not being able to raise their 1-year-old daughter, Indiana.
"'I want to raise our baby,' she cried, and her tears fell harder," Rory wrote. "'I want to be the one to teach her.' She was inconsolable."
As he held her sobbing in his arms, she looked over his shoulder out the window and saw snow falling.
"And a small smile came across her face. Then a bigger one," he wrote. "And she looked at me, then raised her eyes up at sky and said 'if this is the last snow I ever see, thank you Jesus ... thank you.'"
Rory continued, "Like manna from Heaven. God sent us just what we needed ... just when we needed it. He always does."
He then posted a video capturing some of the images of the snowfall. Joey can be heard singing a hymn from their upcoming album, "Hymns That Are Important to Us," which they recorded over the summer and expect to release in February.
Joey has been battling stage 4 cervical cancer since 2014 and stopped treatments in late October after they were found to be ineffective, according to the couple.
