Robert Downey Jr. Drops Hint About His ‘Iron Man’ Future
Downey Jr. appears in the newly-released "Captain America: Civil War."
— -- Robert Downey Jr. has addressed the question on every Marvel fan's mind.
As he gears up for his sixth run as Iron Man, Downey said he’ll be hanging up the red and gold suit when his “contract runs out.”
Although it's unclear how many more films he'll appear in as Tony Stark, Downey seems to be taking the inevitable in stride.
“It’s like any athlete,” Downey told Jesse Palmer. “To me, when I come to really respect a player is when you realize you’re done, dude. Your stats aren’t keeping up. You’re at this age…please, hang up your jersey before you do something stupid and embarrass yourself.”
In the epic superhero showdown, “Captain America: Civil War," Downey shows up as Tony Stark with a dark side, going toe-to-toe with Captain America (Chris Evans) – a part Downey said was fun to play.
But Iron Man is not the only Marvel character Downey said he’d like to play.
“If I could wake up tomorrow morning and be Chris Hemsworth (Thor), that’d be fun just to have to not, like, stand on an apple box to kiss Gwyneth Paltrow would be great,” Downey joked.
As for having real life superpowers, Downey admits he’s just fine pretending for the movies.
“I’d probably abuse that right away," he remarked.
“Captain America: Civil War" is in theaters now.
