Robert Pattinson Tells Child Stars, 'Get in Therapy Now or Become a Serial Killer'
"You can see it early on - it’s terrifying," he said of what early fame can do.
May 21, 2014 -- Robert Pattinson began acting when he was young, but he didn't become a well-recognized celebrity until he was a bit older.
For this, he said, he's grateful.
"I got to live from 18 to 21, you get your own apartment and basically I didn’t star in 'Twilight' until 21," he told Vanity Fair. "It’s different because you’re still young, but you’ve had a life beforehand. Where as if you are 10, it’s a totally different thing."

Pattinson, 28, stars in "Map to the Stars," in which he plays a chauffeur alongside "The Killing's" Evan Bird, who portrays Benjie, a spoiled teenage TV star. In reality, Pattinson said, the price that young celebrities pay for early fame is huge.
"I think Benjie is probably the truest character. I've met a lot of kids like him. The scene with him and the little girls bitching about everybody -- you just see that a lot," he said. "When you see these kids, there is only one way: You either get in therapy now or become a serial killer, or kill yourself. I mean, you can see it really early on -- it’s terrifying."
One former child star whom Pattinson wouldn't bash? Justin Bieber, who is in Cannes along with Pattinson for the film festival and surrounding parties. The two have yet to rub elbows in France, though Pattinson said that they've hung out "a couple of times" in the past.
"I've met him before ... on his party bus," he said with a laugh. "He’s all right!"
