Ronda Rousey Announces Next Fight, Her 'Biggest Challenge to Date'
Rousey will take on Holly Holm, her most dangerous opponent to date, in January.
-- UFC star Ronda Rousey announced her next fight exclusively on “Good Morning America” today.
“January 2nd I’ll be fighting Holly Holm, who is actually the most decorated striker we have in all of Mixed Martial Arts,” Rousey, 28, said. “She is definitely my biggest challenge to date so I’m super excited about it.”
Holm, her newest opponent, was the 2005 and 2006 Ring Magazine Female Fighter of the Year, and the magazine’s 2013 Women’s Number One Pound-for-Pound Fighter. She has multiple world boxing championships under her belt and Rousey says she’s the most dangerous and accomplished striker she’s ever faced.
But Rousey’s not worried. When asked if she’ll be able to defeat Holm, her reply was simple.
“Of course, I can take anyone,” she replied.

How Ronda Rousey Got Over Her Body Issues
After Rousey’s last fight where she knocked out her opponent, Bethe Correira, in just 34 seconds, some are wondering how long this fight could possibly last.
“I prepare for a 5-round war every time I get in there. No one’s easy until after you beat them,” Rousey said. “With Holly Holm, she’s the type that is ready to go 12 boxing rounds. She’s not the average chick that I would fight. She’s the best striker I’ve ever fought and striking is something I learned much later in my career. I don’t ever expect fights to be easy and fast.”
The Rousey vs. Holm fight takes place Saturday, Jan. 2, at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Tickets for the event go on sale Friday, Oct. 23.
