Sean 'Diddy' Combs Was in 'Defensive' Mode Before UCLA Assault Arrest

"Any actions taken by Mr. Combs were solely defensive in nature," said his rep.

Combs, 45, allegedly assaulted and threatened a coach with a kettlebell weight, according to local police.

"The various accounts of the event and charges that are being reported are wholly inaccurate," his rep told ABC News. "What we can say now is that any actions taken by Mr. Combs were solely defensive in nature to protect himself and his son."

The rep added, "We are confident that once the true facts are revealed, the case will be dismissed."

The incident took place around 12:30 p.m. at the school's training complex and Combs was arrested on several counts of assault with a deadly weapon, among other counts, according to the school's police department. Combs' son Justin is a defensive back for UCLA.

The L.A. County D.A.’s Office said today that no charges have been filed against Combs as of yet.

Police said that no one was seriously injured in the fight and the producer was later released from the L.A. County Sheriff's Office. He is due back in court on July 13.

"I’m thankful that our staff showed the level of professionalism that they did in handling this situation," the school's football coach Jim Mora said in a statement. "This is an unfortunate incident for all parties involved. While UCPD continues to review this matter, we will let the legal process run its course and refrain from further comment at this time."
