Sean 'Diddy' Combs Opens Up About June Arrest
Explains the incident was all miscommunication.
-- Two months after his arrest following an altercation with his son's college football coach, Sean "Diddy" Combs said the whole situation was just a misunderstanding.
Diddy spoke to Power 105's "The Breakfast Club" about the incident and the reports he used a kettle bell weight in a defensive situation. No charges were filed in the case and Diddy was released from jail shortly after the altercation in June.
Combs' son Justin is a defensive back for UCLA and the alleged scuffle happened with one of the school's coaches. The rapper, producer and entrepreneur said, as of right now, he's not sure if he's allowed at practice, but probably not.
"There are just some things that you have to understand in sports ... when you have a child who plays sports, you are actually giving your child up to those coaches," he explained. "You have to be able to take a lot."
He admitted there's a fine line and some times, he just wants to communicate and find out what's going on with his child. His son is currently back at practice with the team.
When a kettle bell was actually shown to Combs, 45, by one of the DJs, he laughed it off and explained he just wanted to communicate with his son's coach.
"At the end of the day, it's just about communication," he said. "I went there to communicate."
At the time of the incident, a source familiar with Combs' version of the dust-up told ABC News the incident occurred after the rapper's son was sent home from practice by the coach. The source said Combs went to chat with the coach, but he refused to talk.
"All the rumors that it was a big problem, it was just a miscommunication," he said Monday on the radio show. "One thing you have to do is be there for your kids. ... You can't just stand by and watch somebody do something to your kid."
In July, it was announced by the LA District Attorney's Office that Combs would not face felony charges for the alleged assault.
