Selena Gomez Dishes on Her 'Really Bad Breakup'

The singer, who recently split from Justin Bieber, hints at what went wrong.

Jan. 22, 2014 -- Selena Gomez famously split from Justin Bieber -- and then they seemingly got back together, but things have been difficult for the two.

In a new interview with Seventeen, the "Come & Get It" singer opened up about "a really bad breakup" she went through when she was 20. (Yes, she was 20 when she and Bieber parted ways.)

"I actually talked to Katy Perry about guys who are intimidated by strong girls. I haven't found someone yet who could understand my lifestyle, support it, love me through it and not be threatened by it," she said. "It's hard. I do think I might scare some guys, because I'm like, 'I want to change the world! I have dreams! What do you want to do?' But I only know how to be me."

Luckily, she said that she's in a new phase of her life now. Before her split, Gomez admitted to constantly feeling insecure. Now 21, she said she began feeling "powerful" for the first time ever -- especially after surviving her split.

"I was on Disney when it was Miley [Cyrus], the Jonas Brothers and Demi [Lovato]. I questioned the way I looked, acted, sang and wrote," she said. "[But] I'm glad it's taken me this long to get where I am because now I am ready for it."
