'Sex and the City 2' Premiere Brings Out the Stars

May 25, 2010 — -- Monday night in Manhattan marked a milestone for many New York women, with the premiere of the most-anticipated chick flick of the season, "Sex and the City 2."

Outside Radio City Music Hall, thousands of women braved a muggy city evening during rush hour. Sandwiched against police barricades, fans formed a veritable sorority as they sweat through their foundation and mascara, chanting "Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, Miranda!" over the din of honking taxicabs.

When the leading ladies, Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw), Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbes), Kim Cattrall (Samantha Jones) and Kirstin Davis (Charlotte York) actually appeared, Parker, dressed in a whimsical neon-yellow colored gown, walked boldly away from the red carpet toward her public, embracing women who pleaded for autographs.

"It's almost like she's Jesus," one reporter said, laughing, as the press looked on, transfixed. Later, when Parker, Nixon and Cattrall bypassed most of the media, waving apologetically, reporters grimaced. Thankfully, unlike their female co-stars, the leading men in the movie took the time to dish on what fans can expect from the sequel.

David Eigenberg, who plays Steve, Miranda's husband, revealed his character's opinion of his onscreen spouse. "Miranda [is] kind of bossy. She kind of busts my chops. ... But she's good in the bed, you know," Eigenberg told ABCNews.com.

Eigenberg also admitted that he doesn't relate to his character, Steve, at all. "I'm a lot meaner and stupider than he is," he said.

Despite all the Internet mania surrounding the "Sex and the City" franchise, Eigenberg, unlike most celebrities these days, is not on Twitter. "I'm not a twit. I hate Twitter. I don't want people to know when I farted," he said, laughing. "What do you tell them? Hey, I ran out of cream cheese? I'm not that interesting, and you know that."

'Sex and the City 2' Uncovered

John Corbett, who plays Aiden, Carrie's former fiance, whom she encounters in the new movie while vacationing with the girls in Abu Dhabi, emphasized the movie's surprising merits for men.

"I always thought that this show was just for the women. There's a lot to learn if you just pick up a Cosmopolitan once in a while. … It's like a guide. This movie acts in the same way. All you got to do is pick up some popcorn and some coke, and you'll pick up some tips if you're interested," Corbettt told ABCNews.com.

Jason Lewis, who plays Smith Jerrod, Samantha's hunky ex-boyfriend, hinted that his character will also appear in Abu Dhabi. "The travel and location was amazing," he said, beaming. "Oh, and you know, it's a horrible thing being surrounded by pretty women," Lewis joked.

Chris Noth, who plays Carrie"s husband, John Preston -- aka Big -- looked suave and debonair in a black tuxedo. In the sequel, Big and Carrie are rumored to have marital problems. On the red carpet, Noth didn't really kiss and tell about the plot, saying the movie is about "grappling with the traditions." Noth said his character, who has been running from tradition, "now settles into [marriage]." He and Carrie "kind of miss each other," he said, and "their ability to think for themselves and not the way society wants them to."

Unlike many of her female co-stars, Kristin Davis did take the time to summarize the movie, calling it "a fun romp." Dressed in a bright-pink gown, Davis also dispelled frequent rumors of offscreen cattiness among the four women. "All four of us were together for most of the time off camera. We had a very similar situation to what they had in the movie but with less controversy," Davis said.

Perhaps most astonishingly of all, Howard Stern and Donald Trump, two guests at the premiere, admitted they were diehard "Sex and the City" fans. Stern explained he was a "closeted" devotee, while Trump boasted that "Carrie would win Miss USA."

This time around, will the most-anticipated romantic comedy of the year live up to even the Donald's expectations? "Sex and the City 2" opens nationwide May 27.
