Sharon Osbourne Talks Mental Breakdown, Depression: 'I Had Given Up'
The TV personality said she has an "ongoing battle" with depression.
-- Sharon Osbourne is opening up about her battle with depression and why she took an emergency leave of absence from her talk show.
"I had given up. I just couldn't deal," she told Access Hollywood. "At a very low point in my life, I was very frightened about what was going on with me mentally and the thoughts that were going into my head constantly."
"I couldn't verbalize so I just didn't really have the strength to even say I need help, 'Help me,' because I couldn't talk," Osbourne continued. "I was just flat; gone."
Osbourne, 63, suffered severe depression last Spring, and she revealed earlier this week that during her five-week absence from "The Talk," her family placed her in a rehabilitation facility.
The ordeal occurred before her marital troubles with her rocker husband, Ozzy. The two briefly split back in May when reports surfaced that the Black Sabbath frontman had an affair.
During her breakdown, though, Osbourne said her husband remained by her side. "It was actually Ozzy that got me to the hospital," she said.
The TV personality also said she and Ozzy are continuing to work on their marriage after his admission of adultery.
"I can't imagine my life without him and he can't imagine his life without me -- and everything that goes in between," she said. "I don't know what else could happen in our lives that can try and separate us, but things happen and we come right back together again."
Osbourne said that she continues to work on her mental health, calling depression a continuous struggle.
"I think, if you are born with that, you have it all your life and it's an ongoing battle," she explained, "so it’s an ongoing thing of realizing how blessed you are and what you got to be happy about in the day and I have so much."
