'Simpsons' Producer Clarifies Marge and Homer's Split

Al Jean wants to set the record straight.

— -- "Simpsons" showrunner Al Jean wanted to clear the air and clarify details about the Marge and Homer split that has had fans in such a frenzy.

“My advice to everybody is that we never carry anything longer than an episode or two,” Jean told The New York Post. “For some reason, people thought this was going to last forever."

He continued: "It’s the plot of the opening episode, and Lena Dunham is in the premiere episode. There’s more to it than that, but by Episode 3 everything’s the same. ... I never said the word ‘divorced.’ That implies finality. I was surprised that people would interpret it as a final move.”

This interview with the newspaper comes after Jean revealed the details of the Season 27 premiere to Variety.

The world is right once again, knowing the marriage of 26 years seems like it will make it through year 27.
