Singer Craig Morgan Cancels Shows After Son Jerry Greer's Death
His body was found Monday night after a tubing accident.
-- Country music artist Craig Morgan has canceled the remainder of his July concert dates, according to his website, as his family mourns the loss of his son Jerry Greer.
The 19-year-old disappeared Sunday afternoon after a tubing accident on Tennessee’s Kentucky Lake. His body was recovered more than 24 hours later, on Monday night, in Humphreys County, Tennessee.
State investigators say evidence suggests Greer collided with a friend who was also involved in the accident, but was not seriously hurt, according to an interview with The Tennessean.
“Early indications are that he and a friend both fell off of the tube as the boat towing them was moving,” Doug Markham, a spokesman for the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, told the newspaper Tuesday.
An autopsy had been planned to glean more information surrounding his death.
Friends and family will pay their respects Friday at a visitation at Walnut Street Church of Christ in Craig’s hometown of Dickson, Tennessee. Jerry’s services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Nashville. He’ll be laid to rest on the family farm in Dickson County.
Morgan, 51 and a father of four, is best known for his hit singles "That's What I Love About Sunday" and "Bonfire," among others.
