Sofia Vergara: Joe Manganiello 'Shouldn't Talk to Me Before I Have Coffee'
"The most important things around our life is our coffee first in the morning."
-- “Modern Family” star Sofia Vergara said her husband Joe Manganiello had to learn a lot about her Colombian heritage before they were allowed to get hitched.
“Oh my God, he learned way before he got married. If not, he wouldn’t have been able to get married to me,” Vergara, 44, joked on “Good Morning America” today.
Most importantly, however? Coffee.
“First of all, the most important things around our life is our coffee first in the morning,” she said of her Colombian background.
“He knows he shouldn’t talk to me before I have coffee. Sometimes if he has something important to tell me, first he brings the coffee, and then he leaves the room. Five minutes later, he comes back," she said.
The newlyweds’ personalities work well together because “Italians and Colombians, they have a lot of things in common,” said Vergara. “We are very family-oriented and very loud, passionate about things."
“He’s not completely, completely Italian,” she added. “He’s also Armenian and German. He has a lot of mix. So I’m more pure.”
Season 8 of "Modern Family" premieres tonight at 9 p.m ET on ABC.
