Former 'Star Wars' Child Star Jake Lloyd Arrested for Reckless Driving, Police Say
After a high-speed chase, he was arrested and remains in jail, police said.
-- The actor who famously played a young Anakin Skywalker in 1999's "Star Wars: Episode 1" was arrested after a police chase in South Carolina last week, police confirmed to ABC News today.
In an arrest report, Colleton County Sheriff’s Office reported that officers from nearby Charleston County "attempted to pull over a fleeing vehicle" before it entered Colleton County last Wednesday, where they took over.
"As Colleton County Sheriff's Deputies attempted to pull the vehicle over, the vehicle started passing cars on a double yellow line and increased speed, driving in a reckless manner," the report added.
Walterboro Police joined the pursuit, where "vehicle continued to drive in a reckless manner, endangering the safety of the motoring public."
Then Lloyd, born Jake Broadbent and now 26 years old, lost control of his car, police said.
"The suspect vehicle ran off the right hand side of the road and drove through a fence," the report continued. "The road ended at a dead end and the vehicle continued driving down a wooded area where eventually the suspect vehicle collided with several small trees."
Colleton County Captain Jodi Taylor told ABC News, that his charges include reckless driving, failure to stop and driving without a driver's license.
He remains in custody as of this afternoon and will be charged by multiple agencies, since his chase went into multiple counties, Taylor added.
